June 9, 1980

Steve Carlton pitched six stellar innings on this June night in Philadelphia.  However, he was taken out after the sixth inning of a scoreless game, and Dickie Noles could not hold down the fort on this night.  Noles gave up two runs in the eighth and took the loss.  The sole run for the Phils on this night was a homer by Bob Boone.  the loss dropped the Phils a half-game from Montreal and Pittsburgh.
