June 2, 1980

Randy Lerch - 1980 just wasn't kind to him.  How a team that wins 92 games can house a pitcher with a 4-14 record on it staff is beyond my comprehension.  Of course, atrocious luck has a fair bit to do with it - as in this game.  Mike Schmidt, he of the 10 gold gloves, committed two errors - in the same inning.  Bake McBride joined in the escapades that gave Pittsburgh five runs - all unearned - in the fifth inning of a game that the Pirates would ultimately win going away.  Lerch's record sank to a dismal 1-7.
