The Phillies had to dodge numerous Pittsburgh scoring opportunities all night, and in the end could not quite do it enough.   Dick Ruthven labored through his five innings of work, giving up eight hits (though just one walk) and managing to give up just two runs in the process.  He was followed by McGraw, who could not hold onto a 3-2 eight inning lead.  This was also draft day, and not a stellar one for the Phils.  Only one pick would make a meaningful contribution - 25th round pick Darren Daulton.  Well, there was Steve Jeltz...
