Bake Player of Week

 

NEW YORK (AP) – Bake McBride of the Philadelphia Phillies has been named last week’s Player of the Week in the National League.

 

McBride hit .600 for the week on 12 hits in 20 times at bat. He had one double, scored three runs and drove in four more as the Phillies won four of six games.

 

Other players nominated include Tim Blackwell of the Chicago Cubs, who hit .474, and Jay Johnstone of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who was eight for 15 with one homer, three RBI and four runs scored.
