August 8, 1980

The Phils went into Pittsburgh knowing they needed to win to keep the Pirates, and the first-place Montreal Expos, in sight.  The Pirates, however, were defending World Series Champions for a reason, and they jumped out ato 3-0 and 5-2 leads.  The Phils battled, however, and actually managed to tied the score in the eighth inning.  The Pirates would score the deciding run in the same inning, beginning what would become a long weekend on a sour note.
