Mayor Green to toss out 1st ball at Phillies’ opener Friday

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Mayor William Green will toss out the first baseball Friday night when the Philadelphia Phillies open their National League season in a game with the Montreal Expos.

Game time is 8:05 p.m.

Hopefully, Green will receive the first ball of the season from Kiteman III, T.J. Beatty.

Twice before the Phillies have had Kiteman for the first game. Kiteman I intended to fly from the yellow seat in center field to the pitcher's he crashed into the orange seats.

Kiteman II did a little better, but he still barely made it to center field.

The pre-game show also includes aerial fireworks and the world's largest American flag, displayed in the outfield.

The season's first weekend secies concludes with two day games, 1:15 p.m. Saturday and 1:35 on Sunday.
