Phils Are Hard at Work On Moving the Runner

CLEARWATER la (AP) - Fundamentals. Philadelphia Phillies manager Dallas Green keeps repeating the word.

And so, for the second straight day Saturday the National League team spent a lot of time on bunting during a 2½-hour workout at Carpenter Field.

“We were successful 60 times last year in moving the runner,” Green said. “But those 60 times ranked right at the bottom of the league. You can't win playing that kind of baseball.”

The Phillies move camp to Jack Russell Stadium on Thursday, when they will play a squad game there at noon. They open the Grapefruit League Friday afternoon, hosting the Detroit Tigers.
