September 13, 1980

It was a beautiful night to attend a baseball game.  It was a pitcher's duel throughout between two lefthanders. Steve Carlton got the better of his former team on this night, beating Bob Forsch and the St. Louis Cardinals 2-1.  Forsch was probably overall more effective than Carlton... except in the decisive sixth inning, when Forsch hit Bake McBride to force in the tying run, then a sacrifice fly to Mike Schmidt to score what would be the winning run.
