The Phils' roll continued against the Pittsburgh Pirates.  The Phils coughed up several leads, but was able to come out on top of the defending World Champions.  Mike Schmidt hit his first homer since coming off the disabled list, his 22nd off of Pirates' starter Jim Bibby.  Steve Carlton pitched eight innings, but was denied the win when Dickie Noles and Kevin Saucier blew a ninth-inning lead.  The Phils managed to win with a Bob Boone single in the bottom of the ninth.
