Manny Trillo fields the ball as Ken Griffey slides into second.

One of early appearances of the "Comeback Kids," the Phils alternately were behind 3-0, led 7-0, and were behind 8-7 going into the bottom of the ninth inning. The Phils came back in the last frame, helped greatly by an error by Reds right fielder Dave Collins, which ended the game by allowing pinch runner Lonnie Smith to score. Neither Phillies pitcher Larry Christenson (3 innings) or future hall-of-famer Tom Seaver (1-2/3) made it to the fourth inning. The Phils' offense was led by home runs by Greg Luzinski, Keith Moreland, and Ramon Aviles, along with a pair of doubles by Mike Schmidt.
