August 25, 1980 - Los Angeles 8, Phillies 4

Another team fighting to get to the top of their division, the Los Angeles Dodgers, arrived at Veterans Stadium on August 25 to play the Phils. The Dodgers roared to an early 3-0 lead against Phils starter Nino Espinosa. Those three runs were all Espinosa would give up over five innings. The Phils came back, thanks to a two-run triple by Manny Trillo, to take a 4-3 lead. Unfortunately, the relief pitching did not get the job done tonight. Dickie Noles would take the loss (1-4), giving up three runs over three innings. Warren Brusstar gave up two runs and only got a single out. Garry Maddox and Pete Rose doubled for the Phils, who remained 3½ games behing the Pirates, who also lost.
