August 22, 1980 - San Francisco 4, Phillies 3

Steve Carlton went out hoping to win his 20th game of the season. Carlton pitched well, even got a complete game. However, the win eluded him as the San Francisco Giants beat the Phils in 10 innings 4-3. The Giants jumped out to 2-0 and 3-2 leads, but the Phils were able to come back and tie the game in the sixth inning. The two teams then traded zeros until Mike Ivie drove in Bill North with what proved to be the winning run. Mike Schmidt hit a double, Manny Trillo a home run and Schmidt, Trillo and Larry Bowa drove in each of the Phils' three runs. Carlton gave up 11 hits, struck out 13 but suffered his seventh loss of the season.
